"Why the Celestial Empire?" To those who write to me, such a question seems an inexplainable enigma. Yet, I have always had my answers. The beaches near Cigallo come to mind, as do the mountains and rivers of Qaimong. Nhasa's great walls, or even the farmer named Mr. Keoghan who I met whilst traveling through Temris springs to mind. Yet, for this particular endeavor, I fear none of my usual excuses may justify it. And worse, I am compelled to convince you, the reader, that this interest is not misplaced.

For that reason I have written this, my simplified encyclopedia of the history of my most favorite subject of study, so that perhaps the ones I once called my students might come and visit, and learn with me. But first, there is one fundamental question that begs an answer:

"What is the Celestial Empire?

The Celestial Empire is a large collection of lands in the continent of Turayan, led by the Celestial Emperor in Nhasa and his councilors. It is a land of many cultures, many variations upon its dialect, and many peoples. Before the creation of the Empire in 1427, these lands were what was once called Soralla.
