Abeshala

Abeshala is an Aerionian goddess associated with the moon. She was worshiped as the idea mother and wife, and goddess of fertility in more tribal times. Two matriarchal tribes in the tribes of Aerion viewed the Abeshala as the equal of Abesharath, the sun god. Some Aerionians considered her the Celestial Mother or Queen, the Mother of the World or Universe. Even rarer monotheistic religious groups or perhaps one ancient cult in Aerion considered her more than the goddess of the moon, and believed she was the Goddess.

She is sometimes known as the Goddess of the Moon, Consort of Abesharath, Celestial Mother, Queen of the Stars, Mother of the World, Mother of the Universe.

She is associated in various beliefs to fertility, wisdom, prophecy, intuition, motherhood, marriage, love, hearth, home, and other attributes.

Because of the varied cults and beliefs of Abeshala several groups of priests and priestesses as well as other religious groups developed around her.

The Fanned Ladies of Abeshala were sacred prostitutes who were associated more with her attributes of fertility, the Priestesses of Abeshala were her main temple priests at later times, and the Sisterhood of Abeshala were an ancient group of women now a religious order associated with her attributes of wisdom, prophecy, and intuition.
