N-day is an annual event held on September 26th that cloaks the world in nuclear hellfire. Nations are assigned a speciality (weapon production at the expense of shield production, vice-versa, or an elevated maximum production storage), join an interregional faction, and are tasked with producing and using weapons and shields. The Ops Councillor's role during N-Day is to assist Refugia in joining the safest or most fun faction and assist that faction in coordinating targets for aid and destruction. Some Refugi have historically been prolific in this event, at one point crashing NationStates servers during a particularly intense barrage in 2020.

Z-day is an event starting on October 31st, in which the zombie scourge rises again... again! Nations are given the option of researching a cure for zombification, attempting to wipe out the zombies with special strike forces, or embracing the virus and attempting to infect their neighbours. The Ops Councillor is responsible for deciding the region's stance on human-zombie relations and ensuring participating nations are working alongside their regionmates. They are also responsible for securing the region from invasion during the event, calling targets, and setting priorities for the various missiles, hordes, and/or squads deployed by Refugi. Since 2019, Refugia has consistently cured the entire region, achieving this goal in 2020 without a single death!

While the only things that can be reliably counted are zombies and nuclear exchanges, there have been numerous April Fools events throughout the years. These have ranged from the creation of the cards minigame, a game where you choose between two numbered puppet nations as to which is more appealing, to a recent simulation of international smuggling and seizures. While these events do not technically fall within the purview of the Office of Operations, the Ops Councillor is usually involved in organising the regional response when needed.
