Idealist States Diplomacy Policy

We view embassies as partnerships with other regions and/or organizations, as such we consider many factors when it comes to which regions we'll work with. The main aspects we consider are: alignment, does this region align with us and if not how might that impact our interactions; sustainability, does this region have the requisite amount of nations and enough activity to not only sustain itself, but also be able to meaningfully interact with us; and utility, will this region bring something unique to the table or does it have something valuable to us? These considerations let us determine which regions will mesh well with the Idealist States. Because we intend to be partners with the regions we hold embassies with we also look at the inverse to see how we can likewise aid other regions which is another element that's a part of our determination.

This list, while not exhaustive, does provide a basic guideline of the things we look for as far as potential embassies go:

• Region must have signs of activity with a population of 10+.

• Region must not be Fascist nor sympathetic to Fascism.

• Region must not be enemy of the Idealist States nor an ally of those that are.
  

It's preferable that regions that wish to pursue an embassy with the Idealist States establish a contact (i.e. an Ambassador or Diplomat) with the Idealist States through our Discord server and/or our regional forums. Although this isn't necessary it shows us a commitment towards an amicable and productive relationship between our regions.

We ask that all regions which wish to pursue embassies with the Idealist States contact the Potentate, our Head of Government and Head of the Cabinet; or the Premier, our Head of State and Head of the Premiership; or the Legate of the Cabinet currently responsible for Inter-regional Relations, Ambassadorial Brigades, & Diplomatic Missions. If you've gotten an invitation to pursue an embassy from an Envoy of the Rangers then follow the directions you've gotten from them. Once you reach a regional officer responsible for embassies they'll send you a message with an application template, fill out the template application with information about your region and return it to the respective regional officer in message format. Once you apply the regional government will use the information at hand to deliberate the matter, once deliberation concludes and the regional government has come to a decision a regional officer of the Idealist States will notify you of the decision. If the Idealist States chooses not to continue the embassy establishment process with your region at the time that does not mean we aren't necessarily open to doing so at some point, this isn't a closed door, but an opportunity to work together to try to bridge the gap between our regions. Those that request an embassy prior to any communication with a regional officer nor have done anything to communicate an interest with embassies with the Idealist States will probably see us decline their request as this shows a relative lack of sincerity as they have not properly do any research as to how we handle our embassies.

We will occasionally send ambassadorial brigades to other regions, both on-site as well as off-site, to foster further interactions between our regions. These are case-by-case instances so a universal standard isn't applicable, but we do ask that any region that hosts any ambassadors from us to alert us of any misconduct and/or conduct of a suspect nature by our ambassadorial brigades, just as we will with any ambassadors that visit us.
