ON DEATH's DOORSTEP

The year is 2048. Earth, humanity's home, has been ravaged by an Alien Invasion, which has lasted for five years and spanned across multiple continents, by an Alien species known as The Gems. With the Nations of Earth subjected to partial occupation, the result has been swaths of the planet's surface ravaged by wartorn cities, destroyed ecosystems, and shattered economies.

During what would come to be known as "The Gem War", the nations of Humanity united in one cause, began to advance their technology at an astonishing rate, reverse engineering the technology recovered from destroyed Gem Ships, Occupational Facilities, as well as the Gems themselves, some of whom had defected to the Human cause. Mankind had done the impossible and achieved a new equilibrium after the Defeat of the Gem Armada which subsequently saw the Death of Yellow Diamond, the de-facto leader of the Invasion Forces. Following the end of the war, a bruised but stoic mankind has slowly been rebuilding across a devastated world, coming together to share information and technology amongst the surviving nations of Earth in order to not just rebuild their planet, but to use their new technological insights to spread beyond Earths confines and truly reach for the stars, but also to remain vigilant - wary of a potential second invasion by the livid defeated remnants of the retreated Gem Forces, wherever they may be.

The rebuilding process for the major nations of Earth has been a tumultuous one. For many of the world's superpowers, swaths of urban areas which once had towers soaring into the skylines now exist as nothing more than mere rubble, to be summarily rebuilt from the ground up. Farmland which fed millions has also been ravaged, this time from another enemy, the weather itself which became more intense and fierce as the war and its effects dragged on.

THE PRICE OF DEFENCE

During what became known as the "Great Counterattack", the worlds superpowers took it upon themselves to resort to any means necessary to push back the Gem Incursion. Agreeing together, those Superpowers equipped with Weapons of Mass Destruction, launched their Nuclear Triads against the Gem positions acros the globe, including within the lower atmosphere of Earth, causing the planet to plunge into a global cooling period marked by much frostier winters, and the dubbing of the Summer of 2043 as "The Sunless Summer" as many regions of Earth were shrouded in cloudy skies which wreaked havoc with the worlds Solar Cycle. With the end of the war coming after major offensives in 2044 which saw the liberation of much of the planet, the end everyone had hoped for came in June of 2045 and saw the final destruction of the Gem Mothership, with its fall into the middle of the Atlantic Ocean and its sinking to the ocean floor bringing an end to the Battle for Earth, and to the war itself.

Though the Battle for Earth was a victory for Humanity, calls to prepare for a second invasion echo across society, and across the world. How seriously these calls are taken and what, if anything is to be done about them is up to the Nations of Earth to decide. What the future holds is up to them. But they navigate through this turbulent trial by fire to exist within a new Galaxy, which has confirmed to them the answer to their ultimate question - Humanity was not alone.
