There have been several leaders of the Russian Republic who may not necessarily have held the office of head of state or head of government but have been the de facto leader of the Russian Government and State. Amendments made by the new constitution has made the president of the republic the highest authority of the Republic and therefore the de facto leader of the Russian Republic, in recent times.
