Pranav Sarkar

Pranav Sarkar (born 17 April 2032) is a philosopher, statesman and political scientist presently serving as Director-General of the Pan-Pacific Unity, the seventh individual to hold the position since the establishment of the Unity in 2054. Alongside his role as a political and social leader within the Unity, Sarkar is well-known abroad for his philosophical and political writings, having served as a prominent ideologist for the biocommunist cause prior to being appointed Director-General and authoring a number of popular works in that vein.

Born in Kolkata to upper-middle class intelligentsia, Sarkar's early childhood was interrupted by the collapse of the Republic of India, resulting in his family fleeing to Australia wherein they found themselves in a significantly more dire economic position. Despite these precarious circumstances, Sarkar performed very well throughout his education, attending the University of Melbourne. It was here that he first became involved in radical politics, joining the student wing of the Internationalist Revolutionary Socialist League in 2051 shortly before the Australasian Revolution. Once the revolution ignited, he proved to be an effective organiser and propagandist, helping to spearhead the establishment of the Melbourne Commune. However, his parents and brother were murdered during anti-immigrant reprisals carried out by far-right paramilitaries in response to the uprising.

Following the success of the Australasian Revolution and the establishment of the Pan-Pacific Unity, Sarkar threw himself into political and philosophical writing in favour of the revolutionary cause, aiming to illustrate the nature of the future biocommunist society for a wider audience. Despite a lack of any formal experience as a writer, his vivid prose proved popular and drew the attention of Director-General J.H. Eden, who was personally impressed by the work of the young firebrand author and presented him with an official position within the Revolutionary Education Directorate. It was at this time that Sarkar began to garner a broader international reputation, his works proving popular amongst foreign revolutionary movements and being banned by various regimes for their subversive content.

Political Positions

Sarkar has described himself as a biocommunist since first joining the Internationalist Communist League in 2051, retaining and developing this perspective throughout his adult life. As a prominent writer and philosopher, he is also one of the most well-known proponents of biocommunism globally, surpassed only by J.H. Eden. As such, he has remained a firm advocate of world revolution and the establishment of a global biocommunist society throughout his term as Director-General, describing it as the best hope for humanity in an increasingly uncertain and alien future.
