Vote For GA resolution Repeal: "Preventing Identity Theft"
Resolution Analysis
Overview
This resolution seeks to repeal GAR #576 "Preventing Identity Theft" for its clause that requires that victims of identity theft are to be repaid for any financial losses incurred as a result of identity theft.
Reccommendation
While the Ministry considers the aims of GAR #576 to be well intentioned, we must agree with the current repeal that "Preventing Identity Theft" potentially places an unacceptable financial burden on member states.
Though the requirement that a victim of identity theft is reimbursed isn't objectionable in and of itself, the open-ended wording of the clause would require that member states endure this cost themselves if all other avenues of reimbursement fail.
For the above reasons, the Ministry of World Assembly Affairs recommends voting for the resolution at vote.
This voting recommendation was written in collaboration with our World Assembly Legislative League partners.
