Hill's Armory Precision Guided Bomb 400mm 500kg payload (PGB-400-500)

Overview

The PGB-400-500 is Hill's Armory's medium size bomb for taking out buildings and less defended bunkers, mainly for when several buildings need to be demolished, it allows for more bombs to be carried. It generally features internal guidance at minimum up to a trinary seeker with internal guidance, GPS assistance, a thermal seeker, an active radar, and even an electro-optical sensor for laser detection.

Size,Mass,Speed,Range,Payload

Size: The bomb is 400mm in diameter and 2.5 meters in length.

Mass: The bomb weighs approximately 575kg total.

Maximum Deployment Speed: The PGB-400-500 has a maximum deployment speed of mach 2.5, with its winglets only fully extending and maneuvering at subsonic speeds.

Range: The PGB-400-500 has a varying range dependent upon height and speed of deployment, but from near sonic speeds, at 1000 meters, it has a maximum range of approximately 4km.

Payload: The PGB-400-500 has a maximum payload of 500kg of various warhead types.

Variants

The variants are defined by the following letters after the second number. The first group of letters denotes the warhead, as the second group indicates the seeker variant, the third group, if present, indicates additional information. This allows for a quick understanding of the warhead and seeker in field.

The PGB has enough variants that it would be easier described by giving the potential variables rather than each variant, the designations will be given with the variable. Example: PGB-400-500-K-IRLT

Internal - I: This indicates an internal guidance system, keeping track of the movement of the bomb as it falls. Example: PGB-400-500-xxx-I

Thermal - T: This indicates an infrared imaging system to seek out sources of heat. Example: PGB-400-500xxx-T

Anti-Radiation - AR: This indicates a passive radar, or even an active radar in passive mode. This will seek out sources of radar. Example: PGB-400-500-xxx-AR

Laser - L: This indicates an electro-optical laser seeking device capable of being programmed to seek out lasers of a certain frequency. Example: PGB-400-500-xxx-L

Kinetic - K: This indicates a kinetic warhead being employed. Example: PGB-400-500-HEAT-xxx

Blast Fragmentation - BF: This indicates a simple blast fragmentation warhead being employed. Example: PGB-400-500-BF-xxx

Thermobaric - T: This indicates a thermobaric warhead capable of lighting entire buildings on fire and destroying large groups of infantry and unarmored, or open cabin vehicles. Example: PGB-400-500-T-xxx

Tandem Penetrating Blast Fragmentation - TPBF: This indicates triple tandem warheads meant for penetrating considerable amounts of dirt and concrete for bunker busting. The leading warhead being a 50kg kinetic penetrator, followed by a 100kg blast fragmentation warhead which itself is followed by a 300kg high explosive warhead designed to propel the first two warheads on contact with the ground. Example: PBF-400-500-TPBF-xxx
