Industrius increases elderly pensions. Sign of progress?

URBS PULCHER, 8-10-2021,
Only a short time ago did we ask ourselves whether Industrius would be ready to pass still more progressive legislation in the country, or whether Folenz shall remain the totalitarian state it is right now.
It seems that Industrius still is open to negotiation within his party. An important move has been made today, as Catullus vowed to increase pensions for the elderly. Important, because only a few years ago, elderly were harshly attacked through geronticide, whilst all pensions were stripped off them. As geronticide was cancelled, Industrius then ordered all elderly to be isolated in run-down institutions, with only minimal food and healthcare at their disposal. Today however, this policy has been ended for good. Elderly were earlier already allowed to leave the institutions and some form of pensions had been re-introduced, allowing this major group in Folenz to re-integrate in society. This legislation will improve their situation markedly, as elderly are now able to live on their own, with guaranteed state pensions. Although Industrius has never abolished the isolation policy officially, it is expected that these institutions will fall out of use soon as the pension provides enough money for elderly to live on their own - plus state housing is so well-funded that housing is very cheap to begin with.
The law is said to be supported by all of the senior Party members, and they had pushed for this law for over a year. The fact that they managed to pass it, shows that Industrius still depends on his party and that he knows that in the end, he still has to give some way to them in order to retain support for his dictatorship.
