When in the dark of heaven had not stars been hung,
And the garden of the gods had not been named,
Primeval order mingled with primeval chaos,
Their beings mingled and meshed and created form,
Then were created Kirinna, the garden of the gods,
Over Kirinna was a sun hung, and by night was there four moons,
Then were the first gods given shape and name,
First did the gods till the garden of Kirinna,
But soon did the gods create mortal hands to worship and toil,
Then did great calamity strike Kirinna,
The deluge was called and wiped away all mortal hands,
In burning their bodies did the first gods become like ashes,
And from their ashes were new gods born, and new mortals to toil
