Bakalcalyu in a Shellnut

Bakalcalyu is an urbanized island shortly off the coast of Chiloshia, with a population of roughly 4.6 million people. It is an autonomous and sovereign republic under the treaty protection of the Empire of Chiloshia, which provides military protection and freedom from Chiloshian law in most debatable matters in return for the ability to rent the right to conduct the republic's foreign policy.

Bakalcalyu is run by a council of aldermen (neighborhood prefects) that are elected by the general populace. It lacks an official language and over 50 languages are spoken by more than one family in the city, but the aldermen write government documents in Močıloš.
