Coldian-Haivon Peregrine Cup 3 Final

We open our broadcast in the Haivon locker room. The players sit on benches around the wall, silent. None of them talk. Coach Delenn and Kwerl stand in the corner, discussing strategy in low tones. Sitting with his head on his hands in the middle of the bench is Daniel Resente.

None of the other players know how Resente feels right now. This is his third Peregrine Cup and his third chance at winning one. He's fallen short two times before, getting closer each time. Now he's on the doorstep, and he doesn't want to lose again.

Resente hears that Zaberaz Hapang is beating East Cash 2-0. He is glad to hear this. He liked playing ZH. They were a good team. Good teams mean you know what to expect.

It's not the same in this game. Coldian wasn't supposed to be good, and here they are anyways. Are they a real threat? Resente knows not to underestimate opponents. He can't afford to this time.

Resente knows that if he wants to win this game, he can't do anything less than play the best game he's ever played.

Next we shift over to the Coldian locker room. The players are in a mosh pit in the center, yelling and screaming and psyching themselves up. They've come farther than they ever though they could, and they aren't afraid of Haivon. They've already played once and it was a tie. They know they can win again.

We go back to the Haivon team about to exit the tunnel on to the field. He can already hear the crowd screaming. Even with all the pressure, there is one thing about Daniel Resente that is going to change this game. Resente loves his nation more than anything, and he's not about to let some upstart little nation beat his Haivon! Not today!

Resente charges out onto the field, the rest of the team following. Haivon is dressed in white shorts with navy stripes, and their tops look like the Haivon flag, with a maroon cross and navy and white squares.

Meanwhile Coldian charges out from the opposite side. Coldian is dressed in grey shorts and tops, with blue stripes and orange names and letters.

All this happened in the first half. It's halftime now. Those were some pregame highlights, and there was just one goal scored in the first half. Zarachy Voweren scored once for Haivon, over Saturnino's left shoulder in the 37th minute. There were much less yellow cards in this game than in the semifinal.

[BREAK]

The Peregrine Cup is over. It was a good game, and a good tournament. These are some of the highlights from the second half.

[The screen cuts to some game film with commentary]

"Kelley has the ball. He's dribbling. Kelly passes to Spencer. Spencer passes to Harris, Harris shoots!
GOOOAAAAALLLLLL, Coldian! GOOOAAAAALLLL!!!!"

That goal by Tom Harris made it a 1-1 game in the 79th minute. After this, the notice went through the stadium that Zaberaz Hapang had won the third place game, 3-1. Daniel Resente was noticeably cheered by this. Then, this happened in the 89th minute:

[it cuts to game film again]

"Voweren has it. Not much time left, better make something happen. Voweren to Goeren. Goeren fumbles, passes to Resente. We're in the 89th minute now. Resente, at the top of the box. Resente, feinting, Resente shoots!
RESENTE SCORES!!!!!!! DANIEL RESENTE, AT THE TOP OF THE WORLD! GOOOOOAAAAAALLLLL!!!!!!!"

Resente falls to his knees, sobbing uncontrollably into his jersey as he cries. He's done it. Everything he's worked for this season, this tournament, this game, has all come to a head and he made something happen. Daniel Resente can go home tonight knowing he's left it all on the pitch.

"And that's the game! The final whistle blows, and Haivon has won the Peregrine Cup! 2-1! Haivon takes the field, Resente still crying, Voweren celebrating, and Coach Delenn sobbing just as much as Resente. What a year for Haivon. What a game. What a player, Daniel Resente! Good night from here. We'll see you all next time!"
