Getting Involved - Becoming a Citizen And More

The Rejected Realms Offsite
Alongside the region itself, the Rejected Realms maintains two offsite locations, our Linkforums and our Linkdiscord. Joining the discord is an excellent way to get to know your fellow regionmates, with lots of casual discussion taking place there. It is also where the government operates a lot of its functions out of, and is greatly encouraged to join if you want to get involved that way. Joining the forums is a requirement for citizenship, as well as membership of the RRA, as the applications only exist on the forums, as well as being the place where elections happen, we vote on World Assembly proposals, and the Assembly debates and passes laws.

Citizenship
The Rejected Realms is a democracy, every major position is elected or confirmed by the Assembly, our body of citizens. As such, to have your say on who the Delegate, Officers and others are you need to become a citizen. This is a relatively simple process:

  1. Create an account on our Linkforums

  2. Head over to the LinkCitizenship Applications Thread and fill out the application template as a post in the thread

  3. The Citizenship Council will now process your application, and reach out to you if they have any further questions, if or accepted or denied

If successful, you will be a citizen, entitled to participate in elections, in the Assembly and much more. You will also be able to sign up to join government departments.

For more information on the Assembly, see our Deep Dive guide here.

Government Departments
The Rejected Realms government contains several departments, each of which carries out a different role and may have one or more Officers assigned to it. Joining a government department requires you to already be a citizen.

  • Outreach
Outreach is the gameside department. It is focused on RMB Moderation, integration (such as encouraging people to become citizens or endorse the Delegate), recruitment and more.

To join, apply on the forums in the Linkapplication thread.

  • Culture
Culture is all things events, whether that be onsite or offsite. It is focused on running games and events such as regular polls, game nights, competitions and larger scale projects like the Reject Awards.

To join, apply on the forums in the Linkapplication thread.

  • Foreign Affairs
Foreign Affairs is all about interacting with our allies. The department is responsible for deciding how we respond to external events, as well as representing our region abroad. Ambassadors represent TRR abroad, engage with other communities and share our updates.

To join, apply on the forums in the Linkapplication thread.

  • World Assembly
World Assembly is focused on, well, the World Assembly. It focuses on managing the World Assembly threads on our forums that decide how the region votes, as well as sometimes issuing recommendations or helping aspiring authors draft their proposals.

To join, apply on the forums in the Linkapplication thread.

  • The Rejected Times
The Rejected Times is one of NationStates' oldest newspapers. It publishes content on a variety of topics, ranging from serious articles about recent events in TRR or abroad to more light hearted articles about cultural events or someone's favourite recipe. Whatever you want to write, The Rejected Times will have a place for it.

To join, apply on the forums in the Linkapplication thread.

Rejected Realms Army
The Rejected Realms Army is one of NationStates' oldest militaries, and is a Defender organisation. That means it doesn't invade, but it defends innocent regions from invasion across the site. The Rejected Realms Army is institutionally separate from the government, and thus does not have the same citizenship requirement as Government Departments, anyone can apply. To apply, follow these steps:

  1. Create an account on our Linkforums

  2. Head over to the LinkRRA Application Thread and fill out the application template as a post in the thread

  3. An RRA Commander will review your application, and reach out to you if they have any questions, as well as if you are accepted or denied

If you want to learn more about the RRA, see their own dispatch:

Established by LinkGres barely a month after TRR's creation, in 2003, the Rejected Realms Army (RRA) was TRR's first 'permanent' institution, preceding any kind of Constitution or organised government.

Aside from looking after TRR's internal security and helping its allies in times of need, the RRA's mission is to combat raiders and protect other regions from senseless invasions.

As one of the world's longest-standing defender forces, we have been at the forefront of many battles, from feeders to tiny backwaters, and played a key role in several important alliances. Many RRA members have been major figures in the region (including Delegates), or have been commended by the World Assembly for their contribution to interregional peace and security.

Right now, we are one of the most active defender organisations out there, have some of the best officers and can count on an extensive network of allies.

Why do we fight?

"What the RRA was defending was never just my delegacy. [...] The RRA was fighting for something more. The RRA was fighting for honor, for a Rejected Realms that was more than just a disposal to put unwanted nations, that was something that its residents could be proud of. The RRA was also fighting for what they believed in, fighting for the real right of people to live their lives and enjoy their game in peace."

We defend because we believe in the right of all people to be treated as ends-in-themselves, and not as a means to attain power or pleasure.
We defend to uphold the right of all nations to control their home regions, and be safe from forced displacement; and to preserve founderless regions, and their history and legacy.

We defend to strengthen the reputation of TRR as a region that stands for liberty, peace and self-determination.

What do we do?

Invaders take over vulnerable (founderless) regions by moving in and endorsing one another to capture the Delegacy. Once they've done that they gain access to regional controls and can use it to wreak havoc: changing the world factbook entry, suppressing messages, kicking and banning native residents.

Every day, regions are senselessly attacked in this way.
Defenders work to stop this.

  • Prevent (defences)

When raiders move into a region there is a short window of time for defenders to respond, move in and endorse the native delegate. The response can be enough to thwart the raid altogether, but it requires extreme vigilance and quick thinking.

  • Fight (liberations)

If a defence failed and the raiders have taken control of the delegacy, they can choose to occupy the region (which can involve anything from causing chaos for a few days to completely destroying the region by banning all natives and refounding it as a colony).
To end the occupation, defenders have to synchronise their movements and enter the region at a particular moment and endorse the former native delegate.

  • Restore (detags)

If you ever looked at other regions, you may have noticed that some of the smaller regions had their World Factbook Entries and regional flags spammed by prominent raider groups ("tagging"). These regions may be too small to have a native delegate, or not know how to fix the damage done by themselves.

Defenders will move into these regions as teams, endorse one another, and use the delegate's powers to restore the region to how it looked prior to the raid ("detagging").

And never forget...
