Overview
Azur Deutschland, the new nation of Germany that bloomed after the Second World War. A diverse nation that is heavily influenced by the magical ability of the twin leaders, Sylvia and Julienne. Azur Deutschland, and Azur Rozen Europa as a whole, is a thriving land of magical culture. Technology and arcane are blended together and are used not only for military, but also for everyday civilian life. Extensive research and development into arcane technology has made this possible.
Even though the entire population isn't magical, the term Hexe/Hexen (Witch/Witches) has been used for the citizens of Azur Deutschland, interchangeable with being called Germans. The nature of Azur Deutschland's culture has made the term Hexe popular. Life is quite magical and fantastical.
The flag of Azur Deutschland is styled off the same flag used for the 666th Magical Kampfgruppe.
Azur Deutschland's motto means "Roses of hope. For the Fatherland."
Sylvia and Julienne, the twin rulers of Azur Deutschland, are known for the azure roses that have blossomed through one of their eyes.
History
Sometime, long ago, there was once a band of witches and magical knights on the European mainland. They had all mostly faded away into obscurity, leaving behind magical relics and artifacts. Old legends spoke of a very powerful witch who remained, residing somewhere in the Alps.
During the interwar period after the First World War, Germany found several of these magical artifacts and relics. When Germany began to rearm itself, the discovery of magic was taken into consideration. Research was conducted into military applications of magic. It was soon discovered that some people had magical talent, which Germany would use for bolstering their army.
Due to the location of the home of the ancient band of knights and witches, Germany held a monopoly on magical research. Thus, they kept it a secret from the world. Even if outside actors glimpsed at what Germany was doing with these old relics, they would dismiss the notion and think it was just make believe nonsense. This led to Germany having a leading edge in the arcane knowledge. The other countries of the world would be oblivious to magical powers until later when Germany would demonstrate the power in the upcoming war.
Germany invaded Poland in 1939, starting the Second World War. Despite having arcane knowledge and magical armed forces, the German High Command never fully committed these elements into meaningful engagements. Thus, Germany started to lose the two front war they had started. On top of this, the other nations began to notice the element of magic and were trying to replicate Germany's knowledge on the occult.
1945 saw the end of the Reich. The Battle of Berlin was raging on. Germany had lost the war. Except, the twins of exceptional magical strength, Sylvia and Julienne, cast a spell that shattered the resolve of the enemy forces in Berlin. This prolonged the war for a bit longer as magical attack after magical attack drove back the Allies.
After pushing the Western Allies out of Continental Europe and the Soviets out of Eastern Europe, the Allies ended hostilities with Germany. The immense magical strength of the twins made it impossible to continue fighting. Thus, attention was turned to the Pacific. Germany stood idly as the regime within changed. Once the war ended, Germany was transformed into Azur Deutschland, led by Sylvia and Julienne Dellamorte.
The twins cared not for domination of other countries. So, though there was skepticism and resentment, the twins used their power to help rebuild the nations that were occupied by Germany during the war. After rebuilding efforts were nearing completion, the twins even gave the occupied nations back their autonomy. In an effort to foster a sense of peace and stability within Continental Europe, Sylvia and Julienne offered to the European nations a union to safeguard all of their homes. This union would be known as Azur Rozen Europa.
The effects of the Second World War caused the major players to research and develop arcane technology and occult powers. Magic was indeed real and had potent effects and real potential. This led to an magical arms race. Thus began a tense Cold War between the three main players: the Western Allies, Azur Rozen Europa, and the Soviet Union.
Culture
With the rise of the Azur Rose Twins and the restructure and reconstruction of the nation after the Second World War, Azur Deutschland's culture has become incredibly influenced by the magical and the arcane. With the advancement of magical research for even civilian applications, the arcane is enjoyed by all citizens of the nation. With much of the magical history coming from ancient witches, much of the cultural influence comes from aspects of those depictions of the ancient witches. Gothic fashion and architecture is popular around Azur Deutschland.
Azur Deutschland's cuisine varies from region to region. Pork, beef, and poultry are the main varieties of meat consumed in Azur Deutschland. Pork is the most popular. Throughout all regions, meat is often eaten in sausage form. More than 1,500 different types of sausage are produced in Azur Deutschland. Bread is a significant part of Azur Deutschland's cuisine as well, with bakeries producing about 600 main types of bread and 1,200 types of pastries and rolls.
Candies and sweets are incredibly popular within Azur Deutschland. This stems from the magical influence of the witches of Azur Deutschland. During the war, it was found that sugars help the body replenish mana. This led to an increase of sugary rations for the mages during the war. After the war, this tradition carried on and bled into civilian life as well. It is common to see desserts being enjoyed regularly with other meals.
