The Philippine Army (Filipino: Hukbong Katihan ng Pilipinas, HKP) is the land warfare service branch of the Armed Forces of the Philippines. It is one of the seven six uniformed services of the Philippines. As the oldest and most senior branch of the Philippine military in order of precedence, the modern Philippine Army has its roots in the Tondoeño Army, which was formed to defend the interests and allies of the Kingdom of Tondo. After uniting with the Rajahnate of Cebu, King Augustin I created the Tondoeño-Cebuano Army on 1608 to replace the disbanded Tondoeño and Cebuano Armies. Then after uniting with the Sultanate of Maguindanao the two armies united and formed the Royal Maharlikan Army.
