THE CONFEDERATION OF CASCADIA

This Confederation was formed in 1750, and is very isolationist besides trade to the outside world. The military is mostly national guardsmen with a small standing army and small but capable navy. The population is mostly spread out, with the only 7 major cities being in the nation. Most industrial output is up north, where the land is less arable and closer to mines. The nations major export is timber and apples, along with a limited amount of firearms. The people mostly care to be left alone, self reliance is a big factor. Most people outside of the city live mostly isolated in small communities, or in cabins. The railroad has began to change that though, with more and more communities being able to be connected.

The governance of the nation is a representative democracy, with a Congress. The states all have two representatives for the congressional district. The president on top has little power, most of the nation is governed at a state level, with only a few real big things government run.
