History of Kzin

Kzin is a planet inhabited by the Kzinti. The Kzinti are a species of aggressive, carnivorous, feline humanoids. They are acutely averse to the consumption of plants, preferring a carnivorous diet. Kzinti females are considered "dumb animals" without intelligence, and Kzinti males are thus predisposed to underestimate females of other species. The leader of the Kzinti government is the Highest of Kzin.

In the late 21st century, the Kzinti fought a series of four wars with humankind, and lost them all. Under the Treaty of Sirius, they were forbidden all weapons except police vessels and related equipment. Nevertheless, some Kzinti illegally possessed phasers and sought other armaments.

In 2269, Dr. Keniclius 5 of Phylos II cited the need to subdue the depredations of hostile species including the Kzinti as his justification for planning to create a "master race" consisting of an army of giant Spock clones.

Among the members of the Ruling Council in the pocket universe of Elysia were Kzinti.

The Kzinti and Caitians share common roots, having long ago split and developed into separate civilisations in much the same manner as Vulcans and Romulans.
