Military Regions & Branches

Military regions
The CMC exercises leadership over the military regions, the Navy and the Air Force and the Strategic Missile Command through the four general departments.

Within a military region, the three service branches are coordinated in the battle operations under the unified command of the military district. The Strategic Missile Command is however under the direct leadership of the CMC. The army units in a military region are under the leadership of that military region. The navy and air force troops in a military region are under the joint leadership of the military region and their service branch.

Under the General Staff Headquarters are the seven military regions:

  • Dayan West Military Region

  • Dayan East Military Region

  • Western Military Region

  • Northern Military Region

  • Karduniash-East Military Region

  • Sargedain Capital Military Region

  • Southern Military Region

The Armed Forces garrisons in the Sotahr Islands and Antarctic Snefaldia are both under the direct administration of the CMC Overseas Forces Bureau. In general these regions conform with existing regional boundaries but are not strictly contiguous with the administrative delineations of the regional adminstrations.

Army of Snefaldia
The Army of Snefaldia deploys a large ground force, currently totaling some 1.7 million personnel, or about 70 percent of the Army’s total manpower (3.4 million). The ground forces are divided among the seven military regions.

Over the past decade, technology-intensive elements such as special operations forces (SOF), army aviation(helicopters), surface-to-air missiles (SAMs), and electronic warfare units have all been rapidly expanded. The Supreme Council has accelerated previous efforts to modernize the armed forces.
Snefaldian special forces have extensive training in CQC (close quarters combat) and hand-to-hand combat.

Snefaldian Navy
Until the mid 1990’s, the navy performed a subordinate role to the Army and Air Force owing to the limited coastline of Snefaldia. Since then it has undergone rapid modernization, working with external suppliers (including Isselmere-Nyland and Lyran Arms). The Navy is organized into three major fleets: Naval Group 1 headquartered in Taxilha, Naval Group 2 headquartered in the Sotahr Islands, and the Antarctic Fleet headquartered in Antarctic Snefaldia. Each fleet consists of a number of aircraft carriers, surface ship, submarine, naval air force, and marine units.

Snefaldian Air Force
The Snefaldian Air Force is organized into seven Military Region Air Forces (MRAF) and 24 Air Divisions. The largest operational units within the Aviation Corps is the air division, which has 2 to 3 aviation regiments, each with 20 to 36 aircraft. The surface-to-air missile (SAM) Corps is organized into SAM divisions and brigades. There are also three airborne divisions manned by the PLAAF.

Strategic Missile Command
The Strategic Missile Command (SMC) is the strategic missile forces of the Snefaldian Armed Forces. It controls Snefaldia’s conventional strategic missiles as well as advanced missile programs. The SMC has approximately 90,000-120,000 personnel and six ballistic missile divisions (missile corps bases). The six divisions are independently deployed in different military regions and have a total of 15 to 20 missile brigades.
