Government

The Free Land of Imagey Nation is a conciliar representative democracy. Citizens elect representatives to local legislative councils, local councils elect representatives to regional legislative councils and regional councils elect representatives to the national legislative council. Each legislative council elects an executive council for their jurisdiction which directs the execution of laws but does not make them. No member of any council may run for another conciliar position during the term for which the representative was elected, even if that one resigns office. By elections are held for filling vacated positions for the remaining term unless the remainder is one year or less. Representatives elected to regional legislative councils must have served in a local legislative council first. Similarly, no one can be elected to the national legislative council who has not served in a regional legislative council. Local and regional councils are named for their locality or region.

Judges for criminal or civil cases are elected by the citizenry within a legislative council's jurisdiction from those who have demonstrated knowledge of the law, good judgement and probity. They may be removed before their term ends by a similar vote of the citizens. They are appointed to circuits by the executive council at that level. The judges within a circuit determine among themselves the assignment of individual judges to courts within the circuit. Judges of the law itself, that is, those who determine if a particular law is just, are elected by the citizens of the whole nation to such judgeship. Concern for others is as important a criterion for them as knowledge of the law, good judgement and probity. Such judges are elected as needed and serve for life or until resigning. The judges of the law elect from their members those who serve locally, regionally and nationally, setting their own terms for length of service in such courts. Appeals courts are created ad hoc from judges with experience in the matter of the appeal elected by the judges of the next higher jurisdiction. The judges of the law handle appeals on the matter of the law from civil and criminal cases as well as their own appeals system. The number of judges is determined, in part, by the case loads, so that each judge can give adequate attention to every case.

The Entelechy does not enact law nor judge it. The Entelechy is the moral epitome of the whole nation and leads by example and by publishing his or her thoughts about mores, ethics, justice and concern for others. Thus legislators, executives and judges may be influenced by the Entelechy. The Entelechy is chosen by the people and serves for life.
