Anthem of the Grand Duchy of Hamittia - Marche Millaise - March of the Thousands

First composed and performed by unknown members of the Millaiseists (which take their name from Auvergnot Mille, the leader of a 19th century uprising against Vinitia, though which also quaintly translates into "the Thousands") in 1831. The lyrics are set to Linka military march of which the first third is repeated twice.

From the cliffs into which briny waves do crash
to the golden fields and pleasant woods of old,
a nation stirs and takes up their forefathers' arms
for their yearning of Freedom can be stifled no more.

If in battle you should fall and douse the soil with your own blood
and the vision of a mother weeping will bring to bear the dreadful pain.
Through the cracking of rifles and the flutt'ring of a Flag so dear
you will hear the concord voice of your brothers in arms -

We live! We live! And we will live forever;
Our Blood and Birth make us brothers all.
We live! We live! And we will live forever;
The spirit of Freedom lives in every one!

O!, 'member so the horrid ghost of tyranny
Which vanquished many and made shameful all,
Let it stand reminding you of the duties to your kin
'lest they be chained and slavery disgrace your name!

No task can be too grand in pursuit of Liberty so dear to you,
so take up the burden and let yourself stand proud and tall!
Through the cracking of rifles and the flutt'ring of a Flag so dear
you will hear the concord voice of your brothers in arms -

We live! We live! And we will live forever;
Our Blood and Birth make us brothers all.
We live! We live! And we will live forever;
The spirit of Freedom lives in every one!
