Bestiary of Iiqaath, with threat levels.

This is a list of every species of monster, Sentient and Non-sentient on Azucur, highly civilized species like Selennin and Humans have not been included.

Threat levels range between 1 and 10, a regular human would have a threat level of 1 while a mage might warrant a threat level of 4, the most elite among mortal races might be considered threat level 6 at most.
Threat level 10 has only ever been applied to Demigods and the most powerful of Dragons.

Note: These threat levels should not be used by the general population and are designed for Huntsmen.



Low Threat Levels:


Gargoyles
Gargoyles were vicious predators imbued with magic. Gargoyles appeared to be winged statues of demon-like humanoids. These creatures had mastered the ability to stand motionless for long periods of time, which added to the façade of their statue-like appearance. Gargoyles could often be found lairing underground or in ruins with small groups of their kind. They were also known to be found perched on tall buildings, where their appearance would be hidden among other statues of non-living gargoyles, thus allowing them to hide in plain sight.

Harpy
A harpy was a malign monstrous humanoid winged creature. A harpy had the upper body of a female humanoid and the lower body of a reptilian creature, with scaly legs, clawed feet, and clawed hands with knotty fingers. Harpies had coal-black eyes in faces like cruel old women, with hair that was filthy, tangled, and crusted with old dry blood. They possessed powerful leathery wings with which they could fly and carry away their victims. Harpies were known to dwell in and around high Plateaus and mountains, they were also known to be in the many forests and jungles.

Medium Threat Levels:


Basilisks
Basilisks were large, six or eight-legged reptiles with the terrifying ability to poison or petrify their prey. Though not malicious, basilisks were indisputably dangerous. They could be found all over Iiqaath.

Pegasi
Pegasi were a race of noble, winged equines. Pegasi, at first glance, resembled mere horses with large bird-like wings. Despite this, they had other avian features as well: their lower legs were feathered instead of furred and their manes and tails were also of feathers. Pegasi most commonly lived in temperate or warm forests.

Threat level: Four



Sasquatches
Sasquatches appeared like a cross between a human and an ape or bear, they walked upright. Although they were usually brown, their fur turned white in the winters. Sasquatch had an extra, translucent eyelid that allowed them to see clearly in a snowstorm. Sasquatches were rarely found in forests and grasslands, and more frequently in arctic climates, sasquatches were also commonly referred to as Yeti.

Gorgons
Gorgons were large magical beasts that resembled a bull covered in dusky metallic scales. They were very aggressive creatures that attacked intruders on sight, attempting to trample or gore them or by breathing out a cone of green vapor that turned them into stone. These creatures were typically found to live underground or in plains in regions with a temperate or tropical climate. Many preferred to live in a wilderness that was relatively secure and free of danger.

Threat level: Five



Minotaurs
Minotaurs were a strong and combative race of monstrous humanoids resembling bull–human hybrids. Minotaurs were evil giant muscular humanoids with fur-covered bodies and bull-like heads. Although rare and considered a barbaric people by the more civilized races, it is thought that at one time perhaps they may have been less so. A reasonably sized population can be found within an area known as The Labyrinth deep underground.

Trolls
Trolls are a ravenous, predatory species of giant humanoid found throughout almost all the regions and types of climates on Iiqaath, from arctic wastes to tropical jungles, and came in several sub-species. They were uncivilized, monstrous creatures with voracious appetites that roamed from one area to the next feeding upon whatever they could. While some classified them as giants, trolls did not qualify as either true giants or giant-kin.

Chimeras
Chimeras were large magical beasts that were a combination of several different creatures, namely a dragon, a goat, and a lion. Although typically unintelligent, chimeras were self-aware creatures, with a limited capacity for language, often Draconic. Chimeras were very adaptable creatures, able to thrive in most climates. Though they were most often found in hilly regions with a temperate climate.

Cyclopses
Cyclopes were one-eyed giants and one of the smallest types of giants, standing only 4  meters tall. Cyclopes had earthy skin tones that blended with their surroundings, often found in mountains.

Manticores
A manticore was a large, magical beast with the body of a lion, dragon-like wings, and a somewhat humanoid head. Its long tail had a cluster of deadly spikes, which the creature could launch at its foes as weapons. It had incredibly tough claws and fangs. These creatures could be found in almost any climate. However, they far preferred to live in warm habitats.

Rocs
Rocs were birds of immense size that preyed upon large creatures—they were known to snatch horses (and their riders), elephants, and even whales to feed upon. The roc swept down upon prey, seized it in its powerful talons, and carried it off to its lair to feed. If the prey resisted, the roc would strike with its beak. They inhabited the highest mountains in warm and subtropical regions.

Unicorns
A unicorn was a mysterious and majestic magical beast resembling a horse with a white coat, mane, and tail. However, it had a number of traits that distinguished it from a horse, including cloven hooves and a long ivory-colored horn that protruded from its forehead. Males had a white beard. Unicorns attacked primarily by impaling foes on their horns, although they could also use their hooves as weapons. Unicorns could be found in the Forests, Unicorns were most likely to be seen near waterfalls.

Wyverns
A wyvern was a large winged lizard, distantly related to the dragon, with a poisonous stinging tail and sharp teeth. These creatures varied in length from 4.6​ to ​11  meters, weighed around a ton and were covered in dark brown or grey scales. They typically had either red or orange eyes and their jaws were filled with long and sharp teeth. When fighting, these creatures would dive down from above, grabbing prey with their hind leg claws, and then attempt to sting them to death. They were also known to slash at creatures with their claws mid-flight. Their tails were so long that opponents were typically struck by a wyvern's tail before their legs. These creatures were typically found in areas that were favored by dragons, such as tangled forests or large caverns.

High Threat Levels:


Behemoths
Behemoths are giant, ape-like beasts dwelling within rocky mountains and large tunnels and caves. Behemoths are highly social creatures. Younger behemoths are usually the hunters of the group, while the older specimens, recognizable to their grey fur, are tasked with guard duty. The long claws of the Behemoths are incredibly sharp and are capable of tearing apart most materials with overwhelming strength.

Krakens
Krakens are large, ocean-dwelling magical beasts feared across the known world. They were akin to squids except larger in size, with a body almost 9 meters long. They had a similar body, with a ring of tentacles surrounding a mouth connected to a conical central body. Two of its ten tentacles were longer than the rest and had deadly barbs. They were creatures that dwell in the depths of the ocean and came to the surface to prey upon ships and their crews.

Phoenix
A phoenix was a powerful elemental bird that embodied the wild and unpredictable nature of fire. Phoenixes were enormous birds with brightly colored feathers ranging from orange to red and violet, and blue-violet beaks and claws. Their talons had the consistency of diamonds and their eyes were a glowing ruby color. A phoenix's body was naturally bright and shed its own light.

Sea Serpents
Sea serpents were a nightmarish cross between a whale and an eel, This giant aquatic creature had a bulbous head, and a mouth shaped like a beak filled with curved teeth. Its elongated body sprouted from the creature's neck and ended in tail flukes. The neck was crowned with small flippers. Its slimy skin was shiny and had a color of dirty slate with veins of light gray.

Hydras
A hydra was reptilian magical beast that had anywhere nine heads, A hydra was an especially deadly monster, since every time a head was severed, a new ones grew in its place with one head being immortal. Hydras were typically found in the marshes of regions with a temperate climate. Many hydras were known to inhabit Forests, they also were quite common in jungles. Their breath was so toxic it caused instant death to anyone touched by it.

Leviathans
A great black-skinned whale, the leviathans were larger than any whales naturally found on Iiqaath. Fully 109 meters long, the beast's tail was 18 m wide and the creature had a mouth full of razor-sharp teeth. Leviathans are thought to be descendants of the demigod Awanata who takes the form of a giant turtle.

Ancient Dragons
Dragons are very powerful and magical creatures. The most powerful dragons being the Ancient Dragons that had lived for over a milennium, they are the only Monster with threat level ten apart from the Demigods themselves.

Dire Animals
A dire animal was a larger and more powerful version of an ordinary animal. Dire animals were tougher, bigger, and meaner versions of ordinary animals. They also appeared to be more feral and violent than other animals. Their appearance was somewhat prehistoric and demonic. They were commonly found among their ordinary brethren

Giant Spider
Giant spiders, also known as monstrous spiders, were quite simply enormous versions of regular spiders. Existing in various types, there was no way to singularly describe their appearance; with various types ranging in size from that of a dog to a house. Giant versions of tarantulas existed, as did black widows, spitters, spinners, and all manner of others. Their appearances, habits, and environments all varied greatly. Goblins were known to employ them as mounts.

Golems
Golems were several types of magically created constructs. They were mindless, emotionless creations that only knew how to fulfill the orders of their creators.

Therianstrophes
Therianstrophes are a type of shape-changing monster in Iiqaath that are vulnerable to silver or magic weapons and can regenerate most wounds. Infected Therianstrophes transform during the full moon involuntarily. Members of their race that are born with the curse can infect others and can control their shifting. Werewolves or Werebears are the most prevalent Therianstrophes.

Sphinxes
Sphinxes are a race of intelligent, immortal magical beasts. It was said that they once held a vast kingdom given to them by the gods in an effort to teach mortals the way of truth. The sphinxes had their own methods, however, by teaching mortals to think for themselves with riddles and parables.
